Bex Calpin Bio

Bex Calpin was born in York, Uk on March 3rd 1983 to Paul Calpin, a bricklayer and Elaine Calpin, a secretary.
From an early age she demonstrated a passion for entertaining often playing roles in school productions and dancing in local competitions with the Bell Farm Adventure Playground performing in the annual "Gang Show" at Joseph Rowntree Theatre. Initially Bex had hoped to study to become an Astronaut but soon found to be in the wrong country and not able to get the required grades. Acting had been a constant throughout her teenage years although she was persuaded to study the sciences. She graduated from Huntington Sixth Form with a GNVQ in Advanced Sciences Merit level. 
She subsequently worked as a Bartender, Telemarketer and then as a Science Technician. The acting bug had however not subsided and in 2004 quit her job to persue acting. Bex joined The Rowntree Players and performed in many of their plays and pantos over the next 2 years. Also finding time to perform with the York Shakespeare Project in two of their productions. In 2006 Bex happened across Vancouver Film School whilst searching for film schools on the internet. With her interest piqued she set off for a holiday in Vancouver to take a look at the school resulting in her applying and being accepted. She put off starting the school until 2008 as to save the money to pay for her schooling working in York Hospital full time as a Dermatology Outpatient Assistant and part time as a waitress and a bartender. 
In January 2008 Bex started Vancouver Film School as a member of Class 32 acting for film and television. In the year intense course she learnt from experts in the field of acting including Andrew Mcillroy, Bill Marchant and Stephen Park, spending more than 20 hours a week infront of the camera, studying scenes and refining audition technique. She graduated in December 2008. 
Currently she will be residing in England with a view to returning to Vancouver in December 2009. Bex is still involved in many productions along with her Class mates under Three Two Productions, producing writing and filming original material.
